Slaughterama

Slaughterama -- This past weekend included events like bike races and jousting. Belle Isle was filled with kids from around the country engaged in some RVA fun, covered in mud and trying not to get hit by PBR.
Here are some pictures I took in Richmond this weekend.

This is 1 Liter, a Canadian bottled water that come with its own cup. While the bottle design is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, the typography on the back is another story. The fully justified type has rivers running all though it [ironic for a water company]

178 ... what a dream boat
So living in Amsterdam this summer may have been one of the greatest experience of my life as well as the most inspiring influence my creative growth...basically it defined "cool."

One of my favorite spots, was a small design agency called 178. Walking though that door was like walking through the pearly gates. I was immediately weak for this shop.

One of their clients 11, an a-m-a-z-i-n-g restaurant and club with the greatest scene in Amsterdam. 11 seemed to be the trend setter in night life. Located on the 11th floor on the water, everything from its views of the city to its mint tea, which comes out as a cup of steaming water with a sprig of fresh mint and a box of assorted teas, was perfection.

Ok, so enough about 11, and more about 178. It was a wonderful, wonderful place with a cool, laid back energy that just made me want more! So a few days ago, I was browsing the design section at Barnes and Nobel, looking for my latest addition to my book collection when I found this great book on poster design with a spread on 178's 11 posters. It was a great day so I had to grab it (the last copy...lucky me).

What I am really getting at with this is one important point. Amsterdam may very well be the greatest place in the world, especially since it is home to 11 and 178. A visit back is way overdue.

Dad's Garage Theatre Company is the shit. Saturday night is impov night and it is amazing. The crowd is young and cool, an interesting group. Everyone should check it out. Very inspiring that people can come up with stuff so quickly and ideal for a good laugh.

P.S. Holga has arrived so fun pictures to come.
